It’s been just over a month since Subvein was introduced to the world and things are going swell. We’ve got a steadily growing community; clans are being formed, maps are being made, discussions are being had on the forums and new players are constantly discovering the wonder that is Subvein. But now it’s time to kick things up a notch.
Version 0.51 is the answer. Download it now. Simply extract it over your existing Subvein folder. With bug fixes, weapon, skill, and mission balancing, completely new gameplay features and 4 amazing new maps; Subvein is bigger, smoother, and ready for liftoff. Below you’ll find a list of all the changes made from version 0.5 to version 0.51, but before I get to that hear this message!
NOW is the time to start advertising Subvein. A number of you have asked in the last couple weeks if it’s OK to post about this game on forums and around the net. I told you to wait a bit because a new version was almost upon us. Well that next version is here, and it’s time to go crazy. No matter how many new features I add to the game, the single most important aspect is community. You guys. With more players we will have fuller servers in every country around the clock! New players who discover the game will immediately have a fun server to jump straight into, meaning they’ll come back for more. It only grows exponentially from there. We’re so close to building a brand new community from the ground up.. let’s just give it that one final push.
Having said that, here is all the free goodness you can expect to play in just a few minutes:
Reworked missions so that ALL unlocked missions are simultaniously active rather than having to select just one at a time.
Added floating cash bubbles above players head’s to show whenever someone completes a mission.
Added new HUD tab for Battle mode which shows the current leaders in each category.
Added spectator mode.
Added customizable taunts.
Added advanced admin commands that allow for player banning and team switching.
Updated profiles to save settings in the START GAME tab.
Added optional time limit for rounds.
Added optional freeze time at start of rounds (to allow for skill queueing).
Added country flags to the server lobby.
Added new injury sound effects.
Added improvements to the score chart.
Added wordwrap to chat.
Added option to adjust cursor thickness.
BX_Keep: A castle designed specifically for Radio Extraction.
BX_Subway: A highly symetrical subway system with a highly focused chokepoint and dark shadows to get your stealth on.
BX_Cargo: The cargo ship from COD4 featuring many crates and boxes to hide behind.
BX_Tower: Fight atop a tower under construction. Very small and fast paced.
Map editor changed so that you can now place custom objective spawn zones. This allows for some interesting gameplay modes like infiltration.
BX_Farm: The Radio now spawns on the balcony and must be extracted back home.
BX_Hydro: The Radio now spawns up the top of the dam and must be extracted to the bottom of the dam.
Skills now recharge even when not selected.
Players start with a normal civilian head to indicate they haven’t unlocked any skills yet.
Radio now provides protection for the player carrying it.
Players now receive +15 respect instead of +10 respect for extracting an objective.
Pinging your position is now only seen by teammates (unless you’re merc).
Spawn Invulernability will disable as soon as you run out of the spawn zone. This prevents people respawning and having 10 seconds to chase you down when carrying the flag.
Grenades deal a little bit of damage through walls and around corners.
Bullets deal less damage over distance (as a result of this you’ll notice that most weapons below have increased damage).
Self Repair costs half as much and heals half as much (so there is now a reason to develop it above lvl 5)
Bullet Rupture will now explode towards nearby enemies rather than randomly (a much higher chance of dealing damage).
Weapon Handling no longer affects grenades or Blast Cannon (so they don’t lob ridiculously high into the sky)
Vampirism starts higher.
Venom Shot travels faster and now only takes 1 second to recharge + bug fixes.
Critical Shot now occurs more frequently but does less damage.
Regeneration starts higher.
Bullet Time has greater range + bug fixes.
Electro Pulse has less range but now very slightly works through walls.
Combat Knife: more damage, less range.
Grenade: less damage, greater explode range.
Flash Bang: costs more, greater explode range, longer duration.
USP Tactical: more damage, more range, weighs less.
Desert Eagle: cost more, more damage, fires faster, more recoil, more range.
Shock Revolver: more range, shorter shocktime.
UZI: more damage, more range.
MP5: cost more, more damage, less range, slower bullets.
M3 Super: more damage.
SPAS-12: cost less, fires slower, greater recoil, more range.
Nailgun: cost less, fires slower, more range.
Blast Cannon: less damage, fires faster, less range, slower bullets.
AK47: cost more, more damage, more recoil, more range, faster bullets.
M4A1: cost more, more range, more recoil, faster bullets.
M249 SAW: cost more, more damage, fires faster, more recoil, slower bullets.
M60: cost more, more damage, fires faster, more recoil, weighs less.
Seek Rifle: cost less, fires slower, smaller clip size, more recoil, more range, more zoom.
Minigun: cost less, less damage.
M24: cost less.
PSG-1: cost more, less recoil, more range, faster bullets, more zoom.
Railgun: cost less.
Fixed bug that caused skill queuing to randomly fail.
Fixed bug where skills would appear to be able to multishoot on the client.
Fixed bug where bullet time wouldn’t work up close on laggy servers.
Fixed bug where knife wouldn’t work on laggy servers.
Fixed bug where team chat would occassionaly stop working.
Fixed crash when using team chat as dedicated server.
Fixed bug which caused client to crash when really laggy.
Fixed bug which caused server to crash when really laggy.
Fixed bug where some servers didn’t register in lobby properly.
Fixed a visibility bug when playing without view shadows.
Fixed bug where the icon for an objective in the HUD didn’t change properly when dropped by a skill.
Fixed bug where sounds kept playing even with Sound Effects disabled.
Fixed a bug where you couldn’t view other people’s maps in the map editor.
